Joséba Achotegui. Durango, 1952. Psychiatrist and psychotherapist. Tenured Professor of Psychotherapy Techniques at the University of Barcelona. Re-elected Secretary General of the Transcultural Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association. In 2002, he described Ulysses Syndrome (or Chronic and Multiple Stress Syndrome), and in 2027, he developed the Kayak Test for assessing stress and grief processing. He has delivered lectures and courses at the University of California, Berkeley; Stanford; UC Davis (Sacramento); San Francisco; Tokyo; Oxford; New York; Paris V; Bogotá; Queen Mary (London); the Urbaniana University (Rome); and Puebla (Mexico), among others. In 2019, he received the Health Initiative of the Americas Award from UC Berkeley for his professional and research career. Other accolades include the Medical Excellence Award from the College of Physicians of Barcelona (2017) and the Solidarity Award from the Parliament of Catalonia (1998).
